WE FUEL HOUSTON, BUILD ON OUR STRENGTHS, AND TRANSFORM LIVES.
FOR OUR STUDENTS. FOR HOUSTON.
HERE, WE …
OPEN DOORS WITH SCHOLARSHIPS AND FELLOWSHIPS
Scholarships and campus programming makes an immeasurable difference in a student’s life. Our goal is to increase access to a world-class education by substantially increasing merit and need based scholarships. Recruiting and retaining the most diverse and academically competitive students, regardless of financial resources, is a top priority for our University.
ENRICH STUDENT LIFE WITH STATE OF THE ART FACILITIES
The best students and faculty look for universities where they can flourish. With this in mind, UH must attract and retain the best by having state-of-the-art facilities and resources, residence halls and academic building, as well as athletic facilities. Current examples include the Health and Biomedical Sciences Building II (HBSB II) and the Engineering and Research Building (ERB).
ATTRACT AND RETAIN TOP FACULTY
An endowed chair or professorship is an enormous honor. Attracting accomplished faculty members is vital for keeping UH a premier research institution for all disciplines. Tenure-track faculty, in addition to providing excellent teaching for students, continue Houston’s strong record of innovation.
CREATE A HEALTHY ECONOMY
Whether it’s in the health sector, energy, arts organizations or teaching future-Coogs, UH graduates a steady influx of hard-working go-getters — in fact, one in six Houstonians with a bachelor’s degree earned it here. That’s good news for the region’s economy. As the University makes strides, so does the city, and vice versa.
BUILD A NATIONALLY RELEVANT ATHLETICS PROGRAM
Our student athletes never quit, and that effort shows, whether it’s on the field or in the classroom. We’ve ascended in national rankings in more than one sport, and we’re only going higher as the cheers get louder. Continuing this rise to prominence will require adding competitive, if not superior, facilities and resources on campus, such as the Indoor Football Practice Facility and the Fertitta Center.
